When McCain says:

"I had the courage and the judgment to say that I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Senator Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign." as he did yesterday, I feel he stepped over the line.

What line is that? The line of common decency and integrity. So, for those of you who may feel that this kind of talk is OK, well I disagree with you. More and more of late (not surprisingly more since Karl Rove & his acolytes have openly taken over the McCain campaign management), the McCain camp has openly declared Obama treasonous to the United States & the values it is supposed to uphold. This too is ugly and wrong to do.

So....I agree with John Cole on this one. John McCain, this is what I think of you and your devolving campaign. favicon

It's all tactics

Obama would swift-boat McCain if he thought that was the best strategy to win. His strategy just so happens to channel positive emotions rather than negative ones. He'd bring up a Manchurian Candidate scenario if he thought it'd be a net gain for him in the polls. If you think Obama would rather stay the junior Senator from Illinois and keep his principles than be the President, you're sorely mistaken.

This is why good people stay out of national politics. Good people don't have the stomach to do what is needed to win national elective office. Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

It's disappointing

and probably also bad politics -- that might play well with the hardcore conservative base, but it risks alienating the undecideds.

McCain goes from BBQ to DolchstoBlegende

the famous 'stab in the back' favicon ploy fabricated by the Nazi's.

Isn't that precious. And he's funny too. Great guy.

Further stabbing occurs by the McCain camp while Obama is at the holocaust museum in Israel, as McCain implies that Obama is pro-genocide favicon.

Can folks stop calling McCain a moderate now please. He isn't and he never has been.

McCain would rather use war, than consider ending one.

I hurts when the bullet finds its mark.

I think he is spot on.

McCain has nailed the essence of the Obama campaign. His willingness to morph his position to accommodate the latest poll, he ability to lie without blinking an eye, as he did when he claimed to not have ever heard anything from the pews, then in his speech admitted he had, or more recently his outright claim of being on the banking committee!?!? He knows without any room for accidental mis-statement, he is not on the Senate Banking committee, yet he could not help himself but lie. Curious.

But most of all though, and this was JM's focus, was BO's arrogance in making policy statements on Iraq without even consulting Petraeus, and then there is his unwillingness to both admit the surge worked, and that a timetable was an inappropriate way to work a war.

But worry not, because a couple weeks have passed and BO has changed all of those positions, LOL!, and now is anxious to redeploy our troops to fight a war in Afghanistan!

Do you think his code pink supporters are happy about that?

Fast Food and CO2 ScrubberTechnology Advances

I've heard two interesting news stories today:

First, south LA is banning the building of new fast food restuarants favicon (I guess to keep people from getting fat).

In a more alarming story, many environmentalists are railing against a new CO2 scrubber technology favicon being developed at Columbia University that can scrub 1 ton of CO2 from the air. Why are they opposed? Well:

While some see the scrubber as an efficient and economical way to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide, many environmentalists are opposing the technology because it allows people to use fossil fuels and emit carbon in the first place.

Let's hope that the scientist at Columbia have the testicular fortitude to continue their research and bring such a product to market without being scared by activist groups who only seek to control peoples lives.

…………

Eh wha-at?

While some see the scrubber as an efficient and economical way to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide, many environmentalists are opposing the technology because it allows people to use fossil fuels and emit carbon in the first place.

Environmental activist groups such as Greenpeace have consistently opposed similar technologies, such as carbon capture and sequestration, because they do not address what they see as the root of the problem.

Well of course it doesn't address the root "problem", but if Greenspace focused it's efforts elsewhere, the Columbia program could work in synergy with other efforts that Greenspace is trying to promote.
