An informative interview.

Noah Feldman is a bright guy and tries to convince that Sharia Law isn't as bad as has been represented. That there is a history of Sharia in Muslim societies to be considered.

My own view is that those muslims who advocate sharia law be adapted by the host country to govern muslims (and others) in the host country should be prevented from entry and legally deported, if already here. The other grounds for deportation would be advocating jihad attacks as a way to solve territorial disputes in the many conflicts around the world. It is simply too dangerous to allow radical islamists (as opposed to moderate muslims) into western countries and we have no need for them here, there being so many other immigrants who want to come in.

If a muslim country wants to institute sharia law for its own citizens, of course I wouldn't like it, but there is not much we can do about it. I understand Noah Feldman's explanation that there are varying gradations of sharia law, but allowing even a part of it (so-called creeping sharia) can lead to the more severe resrictions.

to listen. I understand your concerns. Prior to reading Feldman's book my instinctive reaction to Shari'a was the same. But reading it and speaking with him have given me food for thought.
