Guess which of these Countries have socialized Medicine?

The hype is on to counteract Michael Moore's devastating new movie. But the reality is hard to argue when you can graph the real data.

In my surfing about I ran across a new Google gadget that graphs UN data sets. It doesn't have every sort of data you can imagine, but it does have an amazing amount of data, and while one would always want more flexibility, it does have a lot of flexibility.

In this graph I was able to arrange measured Life expectancy, and child mortality on the x and y axis as a measure of the quality of care and the average income for the size of the bubble. The good place to be is to the upper left.

I have a different graph on my blog that tells a similar story.

Anyone concerned about the state of OUR healthcare system

Anyone who's the least bit concerned with the state of our healthcare system, which is essentially in a shambles, should go see Michael Moore's new documentary film, SiCKO. It may not be a perfect film, but the fact that it's gotten people talking and that it's gained the praise of FOX NEWS says something right there, imo.

Saw last week

...and of course I went to find the "balance," and well, it just depends on your perspective. I don't like the fact how people try to dismiss the problem by saying the 45 million uninsured aren't really that bad. It's really only 8.2 Million (after a few pesky dismissals) according to
this site.
See guys? There's no problem. Now run along and play.

However, Moore does play fast and loose with the facts a bit--especially when he touts the health systems in France, Canada, the UK, and Cuba as if there's really no issues with their systems. Perhaps he should have also covered the Swiss program as well. They cover all of their citizens through a more free-market system (although they use caps).

There will always be issues...

...but france has one of if not the best healthcare by pretty much every measure. Similarly for a first world nation the US has some of the very worst *and* most expensive health care.

I came. I saw. I posted.

Having the seen the film SiCKO twice, I believe that

Michael Moore really is on target about that. Nobody says that any system is perfect, but the fact that the United States, which is the richest country in the world and has the worst health-care system in the Western Hemisphere is a disgrace. If the USA can find all the money to send our own men and women to invade foreign countries for nothing, why can't our government find the money to pay for healthcare for all of its citizens? What the Republicans did to Hillary Clinton, who was genuinely in favor of a Universal Health Care Plan for the United States and made a genuine ffort to push it forward, only to be horribly beat back by the Republicans and compromised by them is also a total disgrace, imo.

Do'h

America's health care system is second only to Japan... Canada, Sweden, Great Britain... well, all of Europe. But you can thank your lucky stars we don't live in Paraguay!"
